At Calvary, we believe our God-given mission is to make disciples, or followers, of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20). But how should we do this? We believe the best way is to work towards instilling these core values and practices in our people:
Worship God, Grow Together & Serve Others
Worshiping God, or loving him with everything we are, is our purpose of existence on earth. It is both the most important command given by God to man and the highest priority of the church (Mark 12:29-31).
True disciples of Jesus who have been saved by him should love him, and then seek to grow more like him, in the context of a loving community (Colossians 3:12-17).
Finally, the love we have been given should then be shared with one another and our neighbors through serving them (Galatians 5:13).
How do we seek to fulfill this mission in our context at Calvary?
We ask our people to make three simple commitments towards their discipleship with us: 1) to Worship God through faithful engagement in our Sunday Gatherings, 2) to Grow Together in the loving community of our Small Groups, and 3) to Serve Others by being an active part of our Service Teams. We believe this makes up a balanced discipleship process, which can help all of us faithfully grow to be more like Christ.
