Getting Here

Hi there! We're glad you're interested in coming to worship with us. This page is designed to inform you of everything you need to plan your visit. If there's any question we don't answer here, please don't hesitate to ask!

Travel

Whether you plan to come by vehicle, bus, taxi, Uber, Lyft, bicycle, motorcycle, boat, skates, or just by walking, there's a way to get here! We're located at 107 Main St. in downtown Ottawa, at the corner of Main St. and Evelyn Ave. There are a number of directions on how to travel to us here.

Parking

If you're driving, and you are our guest, please avail yourself of our parking lot next to our building. If our lot is full, there is street parking available on many of the roads surrounding the church. More parking details here.

If you're biking, we have a secure bike rack for you to use in our parking lot. Please bring a bike lock.

Arrival

We have two identical services that begin at 9:00 or 11:00, so aim to arrive for one of those times. But if you walk in a few minutes late, don't worry! We're still happy you got here!

Accessibility

We have a handicap accessible entrance along Evelyn Ave., equipped with a lift that can handle wheelchairs to get you up to our sanctuary. If you need anything at all, ask one of our friendly greeters, and we'll try to help!

worshipping together

You've arrived and found your seat. Great! We'd love for you to let us know you're here.

Once our service gets started, everyone is invited to worship God together. We worship in many different ways, including singing, reading Scripture, praying, taking the Lord's Supper, and responding to the preaching of God's Word. Our worship tends to be an exciting, energetic time of response to who God is and what He's done.

The songs we sing are an intentional blend of older, familiar hymns or songs along with wonderful new melodies that are carefully chosen for each Sunday. You are encouraged to worship in whatever way best helps your heart to connect to God: singing your heart out, raising your hands, standing, sitting, kneeling, or even moving a bit.

The time of preaching always takes us into God's Word together. Our preachers will teach directly from Scripture, and work to show how God's Word impacts our lives today.

Our services tend to last around 80 minutes in length, so you can plan ahead.

Our members and regular attenders faithfully contribute to the Lord's Work through their giving. If you are our guest, please do not feel obligated to give. Your presence is gift enough!

If you need a Bible, there are Bibles available under the seats for you to use. If you want a Bible to take home, just let us know!

If you need to use a washroom at any time, they are available downstairs. A handicap accessible washroom is located right inside our nursery behind our sanctuary.

Don't forget to let us know you're here! We'd love to say hello and welcome you.

Come AS You Are

We invite you to come join us, just as you are

That means is don't worry too much about what you should wear. Wear what you are comfortable wearing to worship God. You'll see people wearing a wide variety of clothes at Calvary, so you shouldn't ever feel overdressed or underdressed! Your inside matters much more to us than what you wear on the outside.

If you have any physical disabilities or challenges, you are loved and welcome to come be part of our family. For your convenience, there is a handicap accessible entrance on Evelyn Ave., equipped with a lift for getting you and your equipment up to our service.

You are also welcome, even if you don't speak English very well. We've got people from literally all over the world and from many different ethnic and language groups. We cherish the diversity God has brought us. During the service, feel free to sing along or follow along as best you can, but we understand if that is difficult for you. For the preaching, we are happy to provide manuscripts of our messages for people who find that helpful. If you would like to arrange for a copy in advance, please let us know

(We can also provide active translation to Arabic during the messages. For more information, email us.)

Finally, we welcome YOU no matter who you are or what you have done. If you are weary, Jesus offers you rest. If you are mourning, we'd love to offer you comfort. If you feel like a failure, or you feel guilty or ashamed with how you've lived, welcome to the club! If your personal history or background isn't the prettiest, neither are ours. We believe that every one of us has fallen short of God's standards. And yet there is mercy and grace available to us all. We are all sinners in need of a Saviour.

Jesus invites us to come just as we are, but be forewarned: He won't necessarily leave us as we are!

Got Kids? Great!

Your kids are just as welcome as you to worship God with us. Please feel free to bring them into the service with you! We also provide a Nursery and Sunday School--safe, engaging environments where your children can learn about God and be discipled to follow Jesus themselves.

Confused about the terms above? Let's try to help you out:

Sunday School is a focused time of discipleship for children, which runs during the 9:00 service from 9:00-10:30 a.m. There are currently classes for preschool, grades 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6, each with trained teachers to lead your children.

Children's Church (currently on hiatus until Fall 2023) is for children 3-5 years old, and is offered during the message in the 11:00 service. (Approximately 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.). We encourage you to check your child in when you arrive. Then, after the singing time, the kids are invited to go downstairs with our great Children's Church volunteers, who seek to teach our children about God and his Word in age-appropriate ways.

Children ages 6+ are encouraged to stay with their parents and fully participate in our 11:00 service. It is amazing how much they catch! We encourage parents to bring snacks or activities if they wish, or we have some activity bags ready for you to borrow. We also provide a children's bulletin for each child to help them engage with the service. There are even prizes waiting at the end of the service for completing work on the bulletin!

Our Nursery is for babies from birth until they turn 3 years old. Our nursery volunteers will watch after your little ones in a calm, caring, God-focused time. The nursery is open during both services, from 8:45 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Note that all our workers are safety-checked and trained to work with your children.
